Why don’t you just meet me at the Post Office Hotel Open Day?

It’s that time of year again, this Sunday the 20th of September. Tickets can be found @pohevents and they are for freee

I’ve been going to this day since 2019! Looking back on all the wedding galleries to make this reel (which took AGGGGEEESSSS) and so much has changed over the years, the hakea plants have been replaced by rubber trees, no more booths in the main hall, and a new iconic wall has been painted around the corner.

So much hasn’t changed though, still one of the best venues in town that make sure your wedding isn’t a cookie cutter look a like, with delicious wholesome filling food, and that feel like you’ve got a pub all to yourself with your best friends.

The couples that get married here are absolutely top notch types, and if you’re one of those types, come down and meet me and some of my mates enjoying a cocktail and a banh mi on Sunday.

Families on film ❤️ if you wanna feel your heart clenched that little bit tighter when seeing you in your family photos, and your kids just as you know them as their quirky, playful, chaotic selves, then book in a session and add in some film, or really up the ante - let’s do it all on film! Seeing your kids in photos the way your were photographed as a kid, latest favourite thing

Love for the gentlemen: a few observations from a seasoned photographer. When a groom needs a hand during prep, it’s all hands on deck, not a polite “mum should do that” or “maid of honour should help” it’s BOSH, let’s get this job done.

I enjoy this very muchly.

A second observation, groomsmen tend to use the green shopping bag as a handbag to carry their things along on a wedding.

I muchly do not enjoy this.

Sam and Trav's mixed film and diigi gallery just landed and I'm not being dramatic when I say this one's a keeper.

These two got ready at Lanson Place Parliament Gardens, snuck in a first look just outside the hotel before anyone else clapped eyes on them, then we took the long way round so we could hit every bit of good winter light before sunset at 5.07pm sharp. Ceremony was brief, the steps out front were doing all the work backdrop-wise (that cityscape, gah), and family photos happened right next to Treasury Gardens because why walk further than you have to.

Then everyone piled into Moat for pasta and wine while Sam and Trav caught up. I just love me a winter CBD elopement. If a Melbourne CBD registry office wedding is on your radar, winter or otherwise, I'd love to chat about how to make the light (and the logistics) work in your favour.

Trav and Samm with 2 mms got married on Saturday in one of my increasingly favourite ways to get married. Waking up and getting ready together, some pre ceremony snaps on the way to the registry in lovely winter light, followed by a delicious dinner in the CBD. This was my first time at @themoatmelb shooting an event and the staff were as lovely and delicious as the food and drink.

Art + shoes. Or maybe just art?

Keegan and Bec, married yesterday in the most perfect of weathers. There was something so comfy about strolling through the garden with these two on a gorgeous evening, not too hot, not too cold, not too still, not too windy, not too bright, not too dark - just right. Like goldilocks (Keegans blonde curls allocate him this role in the tale) and his brown haired babe of a bear. Don’t overthink the analogy, it won’t do me any favours.

Are you across the term “zoomies”?- it’s when your pet runs around in a circle with unbridled excitement and joy. I have now coined the term “filmzies” the same such running around when your film scans arrive. I am very proud of this and expect it to catch on rapidly. You heard it here first kids.

Cecily and David married at Ripponlea Estate on Saturday. So kind of Melbourne to put on the type of weather it’s famous for, for the Irish section of the guest list. My favourite weddings are the ones where you can see the personalities and interests of the couple in the details of the day, and this one had Cecily and David lightly and elegantly stamped all over. Delightful!

Ada and Ryan on 35mm film - loving shooting film for @sarahgodenziphotography for this day. The sweetest couple, great photographer/videographer team, and not a broken light in sight.

Sarah and Josh, married on Saturday @thefarmyarravalley and while it was a very lucky day for them, Lady Luck was also kissing me on the ass. I got to see not one, but two of my loveliest past couples in @sammyjane_m and @bechoseason

Laura and Tom, married in their gorgeous backyard with their nearest and dearest. Which included me!!! Always so special being there with close friends on their wedding day in this capacity, as me and my greedy self get so much more time with them than so many other guests. It warms the ol’ cockles to see your friends loved, and Laura you are so loved by Tom, and me, and the girls, and Twig. All so well deserved. You’re incredible.

Grace and Jake, so gosh darn nice to meet you! And all your people! What a perfect day. Backyard weddings are the ultimate in personal welcoming comfort. Some of my all time favs are backyard weddings, and Grace and Jake’s wedding has absolutely been added to that list. Always a treat to see the wonderful @tylermurphycelebrant in action. He laughs at all my jokes and there is no way quicker into my good graces than that!

Nick and Stef with an f, married on Saturday at @pohevents, lots happened, lots was great, but all time highlight was singing along under cotton candy coloured skies on the rooftop as they practiced their first dance to “tougher than the rest” one of my favourite Bruce Springsteen songs. A bond was created there in that moment. Those are the ties that bind.
( a Bruce reference that I’m quite chuffed with)
